Well, I’ve got about a week left of school, and it’s that time of year again!! Those horrible tests we call finals have rolled back in town. And personally, after taking my first two today, I’m not that worried. It seems like lots of kids get stressed about finals, and believe me i do too, especially over math, but this year I’m feeling pretty confidant on most of them. In other news I’m still trying to remember how to put videos in my posts, but when i do i’ve got a few for you.

Another thing thats happened to me is that our computer died, so we got a new, better one. This new one has all sorts of cool features, including a webcam. Because of this (and the reason i feel decent on the guitar now) I’m going to start posting little videos of me on guitar.

Stay tuned,

Since I’ve been inactive for such a long time I’m going to do a few posts about whats been going on with me lately. The most exciting thing is that i got the money together to buy a Epiphone-Gibson Les Paul. It’s got a tuxedo finish, no pickguard and best of all it was made here in the USA! This means it isn’t a cheapy copy….it’s the real deal. Here’s the best picture i could find on Google:

I LUV IT!!!

Well here we go again! After a few solid months of negligence I’m back to the blog. ALOT has happened to me in my months of inactivity so I’ll recap.

  • School ends in a week. (Hooray!)
  • I’m transferring to another school next year. (because of it’s music programs)
  • I’ve gotten better at guitar each week (thanks to this man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcPQdJX8qOQ)
  • I’m near the end of a process of putting together a band.
  • I played my first gig on guitar.
  • I BOUGHT A LES PAUL (epic guitar)

More to come.

Today’s post is more of a free-write than anything else. Kind of to get my thoughts on paper. So I’m just gonna try and organize these thoughts into different sections. Here we go.

School. School is a love-hate relationship. On one hand wonderful things can happen at school, things that can make you happy for days. On the other hand things can happen that just make you feel like crap. For this it seems i just have to take the bad with the good and just make it through these 4 years.

Social. I honestly cannot figure this out. Normally I’m pretty quiet (note: not shy. quiet. Big difference.) and generally a pretty straightforward guy. But in a culture, and society where sex, drugs and alcohol is considered “cool” i feel out of place. I hear classmates and friends talking about getting wasted and high and i just don’t feel welcome. Also i missed the clique phase, i have a few close friends i sit (meaning at lunch) and hang out with at my school, and lots of other close friends at other schools, but i don’t have the group of 20 people, that again, is viewed as cool. This is confusing and as bogus as hell.

Love. No idea. Nothing to say here.

Girls. See above.

Music. I’d love to start a band. To bad only a few people i know play band-type instruments.  So until then…practice, practice, practice.

How i deal with all this. Music. TV. Blogging. It all helps.

Scroll down a bit and you’ll see my cluster map, the map i use to give me a rough estimate of how many people have visited my site, and where in the world they were when they visited it. It’s been exactly a year since i put the clustermap so it’s been archived, and I’m ready to start another year of blogging. Last year i had over 400 locations on my map, and plenty of comments. So, please continue to stop by RMF and check out what i’m doing.

Well, it’s been about a month since my last post. The reason for this mainly just me being lazy. So. Yeah. I’m done. See yah in another month.

Just kidding. Heres whats been going on with me:

  • Learning new guitar songs
  • Finished semester finals
  • Started a new semester of school

Lets take it from the top, the new songs I’ve been learning are Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas, and Hanging Around (best song in the universe) by Counting Crows. I finished my first semester, which is the first half of the year, and i did all the finals (end of the semester tests) that i needed to. In other news i don’t think I’ve shown you guys my guitars yet, here you go:

Hey everybody! Today’s post is about guitar, namely the songs I’m learning and the songs that i really want to learn. In August i wrote that i was taking lessons from a great teacher named Tony Grasso, and this still holds true. Over my Christmas break i got a nice Fender Stratocaster (it’s an electric guitar) and I’ve also been getting steadily better at guitar everyday. So, these are a few songs i’ve learned to play on my guitar:

 New Shoes by Paolo Nutini

Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes

Day Tripper by The Beatles

Mr. Jones by Counting Crows

Plus, i can do a boatload of little riffs from other songs.

These are a few songs i WANT to learn how to play:

Carry on my Wayward Son by Kansas

Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix

Hopefully with some practice I’ll be able to play these in time.

Thats all for now,

~Sam
