In chapter 9 of animal farm the animals are still cold and miserable. However due to the propaganda that is being created by Squealer the animals believe that they are better off than when Farmer Jones owned them. Rations are cut again and again and Napoleon decrees that now pigs can have alcohol. Also to honor Napoleon all animals had to come out and give a salute to him. Next, to give Napoleon even more power Napoleon is elected president and mysteriously finds documents that state of Snowball’s treachery. Later on, near the end of chapter 9 Boxer falls while working and is sent to a hospital. However when a van pulls up to take Boxer away the animals see that the van is for a slaughterhouse. Then Squealer assures them that the van used to be a van for a slaughterhouse but now the van is used for a hospital. Then their is sad news, Boxer died in the hospital.

In Chapter 10 it is a long time after the rebellion. Many of the Animals that witnessed the rebellion where dead and not many remembered it being that it took place before their time. One day, the animals witnessed and extraordenary thing, the pigs came out of the barn walking on two legs! And instead of the sheep’s usually baa of “four legs good, two legs bad” it was now “four legs good, two legs better”. Finally at the end of the book Napoleon meets with the humans from the surrounding farms and makes an alliance. Now the farm will not be called “Animal Farm” it would be know as “the Manor Farm”. And a final change is added to the amendments “all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others”.

I don’t know a lot about them yet so you’ll have to read and posts that follow. My job in my group is to find people that our group can skype to (a type of software that always you to talk to others on the computer), and find times that we can skype. Anyways that’s the basic outline of my project.

If anyone has red my last post you know about the penguin story also i have been reading the book animal farm. If you don’t know about this then i suggest you go back and read the posts you missed. Now, today’s post is about the connections between Animal Farm and the Penguin article that i did my latest point about. First off in animal farm a small group of animals( two pigs) lead a large group of animals (all the other animals on the farm) into new behavior habits. This is the same in the penguin article. In the penguin article a group of six penguins lead another group of fifty into a new an odd behavior that baffles the zookeepers in the zoo where they live. Namely, swimming nonstop. Another connection is that once their behavior is changes both the animals at the farm and the penguins lives have become harder. The animals in animal farm have to do their own work while the penguins swim constantly and eat less. Also both these behaviors will make these animals hungry and want to eat more. But for different reasons, the penguins being that their to tired to eat, and the farm animals for a different reason (read the book) they will not be able to eat as much.

Today i red an article about penguins. What this article was about was a group of penguins in the San Fransisco Zoo that where very lazy. These penguins lived the good life and got everything they wanted. Another name for this is a coddled flock. This meant that the penguins were given everything they wanted and it was nothing like the wild. But when a zoo in Ohio closed down a group of six penguins came to the San Francisco zoo and in only two hours had gotten the whole group of the fifty lazy penguins into the water and swimming like crazy-birds. This would be good because these lazy penguins where getting exercise but their was a problem…the penguins would not stop! Also it made feeding the penguins very, very, hard. The zookeeper in charge hopes that this behavior will stop soon, but these pleas are lost on the penguins because their already in the water.
