In mrmayo’s class we are reading Fredrick Douglas’s biography. In class we where supposed to find three important passages and explain why you chose each passage.
Passages:
Passage #1: I used to steal a bag…..and their sleep on the floor.
Why?: This shows the harsh living conditions slaves had to live in at that time, and why so many wanted to escape.
Passage #2: My mother was dead, my grandmother lived far off.
Why?: Many slaves, like Douglas had no family ties and where not bound to their home.
Passage #3: Her ( his new master) face was made of heavenly smiles and her voice of tranquil music.
Why?: This shows that his new master was much better than his older one and hopefully his life will change.
